In the area of Lefkimi you can find the Bishops residence Kardiki but in these days it's
only the remains of the residence left. The part of Lefkimi has 28 villages. There is also
a river named Potami. The people live of the harvest of the olive trees.
Lefkimi: It's like coming to a completely different world. The inhabitants store bottles
of wine and oil on the roofs of the houses to make sure that the house doesnt lack
anything good. It has been mentioned that the battle between Corfu and Corinth took place
here about 435-434 BC. The people of Lefkimi are simple people and hold to their
traditions and mainly the farming way of living.
Ag.Georgios: has the
same beach as Halikounas and the beach is 10km long with sand. The wats is not so deep in
this area. You can find a small spot for yourself even if it's tourist season. Ag.Giorgios
is a place for sports like: ski, jet ski, Para flying, parachuting and its very busy here
with people everywhere. Close to this place you can find Lake Korisson, a lagoon
with an area of 1500 acres and its long and narrow. The Ionian sea mixes with the lake in
a small opening to Halkikounad beach. You can walk in the forest around the lake on a
small footpath.
Molos: If you want to
see the life of the fishermen and see they come in at dawn loaded with fish, Molos is the
place to go. Its also a good place if you want to get fresh fish. Its a very good place
for family holidays.
Kavos: a busy party place for young people from all over the world. Here you will meet
mainly people from Britain. From here you can go to the southernmost point on Corfu,
Arkoudillas. You can walk though the forest which is filled with cypress trees and it ends
on a cliff and you will be stunned by the breath taking view to Asprokavos.
Asprokavos: a place with wild nature.
It's the southernmost point on the island Corfu. Here you can find a forrest with trails
for walks. The sea is wild because because of the winds. The name Asprokavos comes from
the sea stream between the island Paxos and Asprokavos. The name itself comes from the
italian language, Kavos Bianco which means, white Kavos.
